Evolve developer Turtle Rock Studios and publisher 2K have a challenge for the game’s community: go hunting. For a game based on 4v1 combat between Hunters and various monstrosities, that may not sound like much. But there’s a catch. Evolve will host a community challenge from Friday, June 5 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern through the same time Monday, June 8. During that time, if the community can win 40,000 Arena Mode games as Hunters, all participants will receive the Hunter Predator Skin set free of charge. The skins will be delivered Thursday, June 11 if Hunters win out and the challenge is completed.
The challenge is, presumably, a way of promoting the newly released Arena Mode, and a nice one at that. Arena Mode boils the core Evolve formula down to what is effectively a cage match. Teams of four Hunters square off against their monstrous opponent in a best-of-three tournament within fixed arenas. It removes much of the actual hunting of conventional multiplayer, instead opting to double down on sheer action. This makes it an excellent home for the sort of lightning round tournament which will be hosted this weekend.
