It was recently revealed that Apple was relaunching the iPhone 6 in some markets in a new 32GB variant. This model has now started making its way to some carriers in Asia with a Gold paint job.
It is important to note that Apple is yet to offer the device through its retail channels. But carriers like Taiwan Mobile have heavily promoted the arrival of this cheaper iPhone, marketing this as a limited edition promotion. The carrier will offer the device on an NT$1,399 per month contract plan ($45) for a period of 30 months. Other retail outlets in Asia will start selling the device over the coming weeks.
The Apple iPhone 6 is nearly three years old in the market, and was only launched in 16/64 and 128GB variants. Keeping this in mind, this particular model will use a new SKU as Apple never sold the 32GB iPhone 6 model before.
We have seen Apple reintroducing some new models of the iPhone for select markets in the past. This was infamously done a few years ago when the company introduced an 8GB version of the iPhone 5c for developing markets.
While Apple is focusing heavily on the iPhone 8 for the time being, it’s good to see that the company wants to tap into the mid-ranged market segment as well.
