Saddle up, pilot! It’s time for some mechanized, armor plated, missile firing, machine gun shooting, nuclear powered fun.
Walking War Robots is a multi-player, armored mech version of capture the flag. The basic goals are to 1) stay alive, 2) destroy all enemy robots, and 3) keep/capture beacons.
When you start the session, the game will drop in random players to populate the 6 vs. 6 battle. Your display will present you with some vital info such as where the enemies are, your distance to target, your robots status, weapons, etc.
The game controls are two buttons in the lower corners. The left button is the movement joystick; the right side button is for your weapons pods/firing and for swiveling your turret. Be careful with your weapons; the guns and missiles only fire so many rounds before they need to take a few seconds to reload (finding cover at this point is a good idea).
The hangar is where you can spend your silver on upgrades to your mech and weapons and gold (if you have enough) to buy a new robot and try some new tricks on the battlefield.
If you Genesis Climber MOSPEADA, this is a fun, portable version. The wait for additional players is not too long (I never had to wait more than about 30 second from my drop in to ground pounding), and the action, while not necessarily fast paced (robots walk a bit ponderously), isn’t overly long. The average combat round when I played was only about 3 to 5 minutes, so you can get in, destroy some stuff, collect the rewards to fuel your upgrades, and get on with it. Of course, you can spend some real money on upgrades if you want goodies faster. You can also pony up for the premium version, but the basic game is pretty good.
