Back in April, Apple Music announced that it would launch “Up Next,” a documentary series that focused on promoting up-and-coming artists from a range of music styles and backgrounds.
The first iteration of Up Next saw the promotion of artist 6LACK, and, in May, Apple Music hosted Sigrid as the next artist to see promotion. And, this time around, we get to hear about artist Daniel Caesar.
The series follows a familiar setup, with a documentary created that focuses on the artist, telling viewers about their style, influences, and more. There is also a music video filmed for the series, in this case it’s Caesar being backed up by a gospel choir as they perform in Toronto, Canada. And, finally, there’s an interview with Caesar talking with Beats 1 Radio’s Ebro Darden.
“For singer/songwriter Daniel Caesar, music was first a spiritual calling. He sang gospel with his dad before finding himself sleeping on park benches around Toronto. Now Caesar’s music–which mixes woozy R&B, smoothed-out rock, and seductive soul–inhabits a place where questions about faith and personal reflections are approached with a deep sense of yearning and heart-on-sleeve sincerity. Follow the artist’s journey with this interview, live session, and documentary.”
As this is an Apple Music effort, the Up Next series is locked behind the paywall, which starts at $9.99 for a single user. The newest addition of Up Next is available right now, so if you want to check out the musical talent of Daniel Caesar, or just learn more about him, it’s certainly worth checking out.
