At the tail-end of May, Apple began supporting same-day delivery thanks to working with Postmates, but there were a few key details.
First and foremost, the same-day delivery “courier” option was only available through purchases made through Apple’s official Apple Store iOS app. Plus, Apple working with Postmates to make the same-day delivery option viable meant it was only available in some cities in the United States, with many other locations left out of the mix altogether.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t changed, and the same-day delivery courier option is still only available in a limited number of cities, however, Apple has expanded the purchasing options. Now buyers don’t have to buy specifically from the Apple Store app anymore, as Apple has expanded the same-day delivery option to purchases made of select items on its Online Store as well.
The new “courier delivery” option promises the delivery of the items “on the same day, within four hours.” It costs $19 to get this faster delivery, which is about $2 more expensive than the next-day delivery option. Up until now, Apple’s Online Store only offered several different next-day options, including an option to get it the next business day before noon.
As of right now, the iPad, iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV all have support for same-day delivery, but the offering is still only viable in some locations, most of which are major cities. Moreover, this partnership with Postmates doesn’t mean that all of Postmate’s areas of service are covered just yet, as Apple’s delivery area is still quite limited.
Apple continues to rollout the same-day delivery option, so hopefully it becomes a bit more widespread in the coming months.
