Insurance for smartphones has always been one way for carriers to get a bit more from customers on their monthly bill, but customers also get a little bit of piece of mind with the option, too.
Screen repair will soon be an option for same-day fixes from AT&T, based on documents discovered by Android Police. The new plan will see AT&T offering cracked screen repair for customers that are insured through the carrier’s Mobile Insurance (for a single device, per device), Mobile Protection Pack, Mobile Protection Pack for Business, Multi-Device Protection Pack.
There is an $89 deductible to get the screen fixed. Once a subscriber has a repair setup through the carrier, a representative from the insurance provider, Asurion, will come directly to you. As long as the appointment is finalized by 2:00pm local time, the rep can usually show up the same day to repair the phone.

Not the newest devices by any means, but there are obviously still quite a few customers out there using those handsets, and AT&T is sure to add new handsets over the course of the plan’s life.
The market will be small at launch. Here are the areas covered on November 15:
And here the markets that will be added as of December 1, 2016:
It’s probably worth noting that Apple now includes a $29 screen repair option as part of AppleCare+, which includes coverage for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
