The wearable Pip-Boy included with the collector’s edition of Fallout 4 can’t accommodate the largest phones on the market. The model includes foam inserts sized for iPhone 6, iPhone 5/5, iPhone 4/4, Samsung Galaxy 5 and Samsung Galaxy 4, Bethesda wrote on its blog. Smartphones similar in size to these models will be just fine, but anything larger almost certainly will not fit. “We wanted to stay faithful to the dimensions of the in-game model,” Bethesda said. In other words, phablets and their bulky brethren will have to be satisfied with the Fallout 4 companion app itself. Evidently, survivors of a nuclear holocaust don’t carry TVs in their pocket just to play Threes.
This small limitation hasn’t kept Fallout 4 collector’s editions from selling like hotcakes, mind. In fact, demand has already torn through the edition’s North American supply. GameStop (or EB Games in Canada), Best Buy and Amazon are completely sold out in the region. Who can blame fans for buying them up? The $120 edition comes with plenty more Fallout merch than the ever-enticing Pip-Boy, after all.
Bethesda has yet to reveal the status or availability of European editions, so those interested may yet lock in a copy, though not without some high shipping. Bethesda will have more details next week.
